A professional service company serving high-net-worth clients contacted me after discovering serious issues affecting their website and server. Due to the nature of their business and clientele, discretion was critical. ➡️ The company’s WordPress site had been compromised ↓
- Pornographic links were appearing in Google search results associated with their brand, and their server was actively sending out explicit spam emails. This created immediate reputational risk and raised concerns about long-term damage to search visibility and client trust.
➡️ My initial priority was containment and stabilization ↓
- I identified and removed the malware, secured the WordPress installation, and addressed the server-level email abuse to prevent further outgoing spam. Once the immediate threats were resolved, additional hardening and monitoring measures were put in place to reduce the risk of recurrence.
➡️ The technical issues were resolved relatively quickly ↓
- Although, the reputational and search-related fallout took longer to fully recover. Over the following months, the site’s presence in search results gradually normalized as the effects of the compromise were cleaned up and trust signals restored.
